Sushi Love: The Upper Room

Where: 12 Elliewood Avenue, Up the stairs

The upper room at sushi love is the sort of place I imagine the last supper happening, only with karaoke. There are so many advantages of reserving the upper room. You can be as loud as you want, have as many people as you want, and have full control of the karaoke machine (after the quick tutorial of the Korean language). There is one slight disadvantage, the upper room may or may not be connected to someone’s personal bathroom and bedroom, but I’ll leave that up for you to decide.

Other tips:
Don’t leave without Sake Bombing with the waiter.
They will put a cake in the fridge for you.
You CAN play Justin Bieber by holding up your iphone to the microphone.
Bring cash!

Heritage Harvest Festival

When: September 16-17
Where: Monticello
What:
Today the Thomas Jefferson Foundation and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange hosted the 5th annual Heritage Harvest Festival. I don’t know what could be better than 3 hours of trying everything Virginia can possibly grow. We began with tomato tasting.

HOO knew 40 different types of tomatoes were going to be there? Grown by Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and Buy Fresh Buy Local farms, these tomatoes were excellent, and this is coming from a person who rarely indulges in the nightshed family. My personal favorites from the tasting tent were the melons and cornbread.

 Other things we learned:
No matter how old you are, if you’re on a school bus you have to sit.
Vinegar can be tasted with bread.
Ckay likes vinegar.
Mushrooms are neither a fruit or vegetable.
Cotswold is soft.
Children dressed in purple robes do not want to be photographed.
Jewel actually gazes at her food like she's in love with it.
